In 2008 there were 385,500 women in New Jersey in need of publicly supported contraceptive services and supplies (Women in Need of Contraceptive Services and Supplies 2008; Guttmacher Institute).

Title X–supported family planning centers play an especially important role in serving these women who often cannot afford to pay out-of-pocket at private health care providers.

By helping women avoid unintended pregnancies and the births that would follow, the services provided at Title X–supported centers in New Jersey saved $133,028,000 in public funds in 2008 (Guttmacher Institute).

The New Jersey Family Planning League is a private, nonprofit organization that administers federal Title X funding and provides technical support and quality assurance to a network of five sub-recipient agencies providing family planning and reproductive health care services and education to more than 78,000 women, men and adolescents in twelve counties in northern and central New Jersey.
