What if I Need an Abortion But Can’t Afford One?
Abortion care is covered by many private health plans. It is also covered by New Jersey Family Care, which is the state’s Medicaid program.
Ask your health insurance provider if it covers abortion. If you don’t have insurance or don’t want to use your insurance, consider asking the health center about cost. There are usually options available for those who want affordable and discreet abortion services.
Another option to consider is applying for financial help from The New Jersey Abortion Access Fund (NJAAF). The NJAAF gives funding to select clinics that provide eligible people with abortion care. The staff at these clinics will either fill out the application with you or submit it to NJAAF on your behalf.
Where Can I Find Assistance for Cost, Travel and More?
If you are outside of New Jersey or located far away from affordable abortion care, don’t worry. You may be able to get help covering the cost of transportation, childcare, meals and lodging.
