Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 20, 2026
1. Introduction
New Jersey Family Planning League (“NJFPL,” “League,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) recognizes the importance of privacy, particularly for people seeking information about reproductive and sexual health services. This Website Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you visit or interact with www.njfpl.org and any other website page or online feature that links to this policy (collectively, the “Website”).
This policy applies only to NJFPL’s Website and related online interactions. It does not apply to medical care, patient records, appointment scheduling, billing, or other services provided by hospitals, federally qualified health centers, Planned Parenthood affiliates, community health centers, abortion care centers, or other providers listed or linked on the Website. Those providers are independent organizations and may have their own privacy notices and legal obligations, including obligations under HIPAA or state medical privacy laws.
The Website is intended to provide general information and resources. The Website is not intended to collect protected health information regulated by HIPAA (“PHI”) or to create a patient-provider relationship. Please do not submit sensitive health, reproductive health, abortion-related, sexual health, immigration, financial, or other sensitive information through Website forms, comment fields, email links, or other free-text fields. If you need health care, contact a health center directly. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.
2. Information We Collect
Information you choose to provide
We may collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you contact us, submit a Website form, request information, sign up for communications, apply for employment, interact with us on social media, or otherwise communicate with us. Depending on the interaction, this may include:
- Contact information, such as name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and organization or affiliation;
- Questions, comments, requests, and other information you choose to include in a message to us;
- Communication preferences, including whether you have signed up to receive newsletters or similar communications;
- Employment-related information, such as resumes, cover letters, professional qualifications, references, and information included in job application materials;
- Correspondence and records of your communications with us; and
- Any other information you voluntarily provide.
Sensitive information notice. NJFPL does not ask you to provide health information, abortion-related information, reproductive or sexual health information, precise geolocation, immigration status, government identification numbers, financial account information, or other sensitive information through the Website. If you voluntarily provide sensitive information despite this instruction, we will use it only for the limited purpose of reviewing and responding to your communication, directing you to appropriate resources, protecting safety or rights, complying with law, and maintaining appropriate records, and we will not sell it or use it for targeted advertising.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the Website and our service providers may automatically collect limited technical and usage information when you visit or use the Website. This may include:
- Internet Protocol (“IP”) address and approximate location derived from IP address;
- Browser type, device type, operating system, screen or device settings, and referring/exit pages;
- Pages or resources viewed, links clicked, search terms or locator inputs, dates and times of visits, and general interaction data;
- Cookie identifiers and similar identifiers used to operate, secure, maintain, and measure the Website; and
- Information collected in server logs, security logs, analytics tools, and similar technologies.
We do not intend to use Website analytics or logs to identify a visitor’s health status or to infer that a specific person is seeking or obtaining any health care service. We do not use Website analytics, tracking pixels, or similar tools to target advertising based on visits to abortion, reproductive health, sexual health, health center locator, or similar health-related pages.
Location and Health Center locator information
The Website may include health center locator functionality that allows visitors to search for family planning or abortion care centers. If you enter a city, ZIP code, address, provider type, or other search term, the Website or its service providers may process that information to return relevant results. If the Website or your browser asks for permission to use your precise location, you may decline. We recommend using a city or ZIP code rather than an exact home address when possible. We do not use health center locator searches for targeted advertising, and we do not sell locator search information.
Cookies and similar technologies
We may use cookies, pixels, web beacons, embedded scripts, server logs, and similar technologies to operate the Website, remember preferences, secure the Website, understand Website usage, and improve Website performance. Cookies are small data files stored on your browser or device.
The Website may use the following categories of cookies or similar technologies:
- Strictly necessary cookies: used to operate the Website, support security, maintain settings, and make requested features work.
- Functional or preference cookies: used to remember choices you make, such as language or display preferences, if those features are enabled.
- Analytics cookies: used to understand aggregate Website usage and performance. We configure analytics to support data minimization and do not use analytics to identify health status or to target advertising based on health-related page visits.
- Advertising or remarketing cookies: NJFPL does not use advertising or remarketing cookies, pixels, or similar technologies to target visitors based on visits to health-related pages. If NJFPL later decides to use advertising or remarketing technologies, we will update this policy and provide any consent or opt-out mechanism required by applicable law before doing so.
Most browsers allow you to remove or reject cookies. If you reject cookies, some Website features may not function as intended. You may also use available opt-out tools offered by analytics providers, such as the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, where applicable.
Information from social media and third-party platforms If you interact with NJFPL through social media platforms or third-party websites, we may receive information you make available through those platforms, such as comments, messages, public posts, tags, or aggregated analytics about engagement with our pages. Your use of social media platforms is governed by their own privacy policies and terms. This policy does not govern information collected directly by social media companies, search engines, payment processors, map services, email platforms, video platforms, or other third parties.

We do not sell personal information. We do not sell consumer health data. We do not use information that identifies or could reasonably be used to identify that a person is seeking reproductive health, sexual health, abortion, contraception, STI, HIV, PrEP, or other health services for targeted advertising.
4. How We Disclose Information
We may disclose personal information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers and vendors: We may disclose information to vendors that provide services for us, such as website hosting, security, analytics, email delivery, form processing, health center locator functionality, IT support, accessibility support, and recruiting support. We authorize vendors to use information only as needed to provide services to us or as otherwise permitted by law and contract.

For medical questions or appointments, you should contact the health center directly.
- Legal, compliance, and safety purposes: We may disclose information if we believe disclosure is required or permitted by law, legal process, subpoena, court order, government request, grant oversight, audit requirement, or to protect rights, safety, security, or property.
- Organizational changes: If NJFPL participates in a merger, affiliation, restructuring, transfer of assets, or similar organizational transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to appropriate protections.
- Deidentified or aggregated information: We may disclose information that does not identify you and cannot reasonably be used to identify you, such as aggregated Website statistics or public program metrics.
- With your consent: We may disclose information for other purposes with your consent or at your direction.
We do not disclose personal information to data brokers for enrichment, profiling, or resale. We do not disclose Website health-related interactions to advertising networks for interest-based advertising.
5. Third-Party Links, Tools, and Providers
The Website may link to or integrate third-party websites, tools, maps, videos, social media pages, health center websites, government websites, hotlines, payment processors, or other resources. We do not control the privacy, security, accuracy, accessibility, or content practices of third parties. When you leave the Website or interact with a third-party service, your information is subject to that third party’s policies and practices. We encourage you to review the applicable privacy policy and terms before providing information to any third party.
6. Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to respond to your request, operate and secure the Website, comply with legal, regulatory, grant, accounting, and recordkeeping obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. We aim to minimize retention of sensitive information inadvertently submitted through Website free-text fields. We may retain deidentified, aggregated, backup, and archival information in accordance with our recordkeeping practices and applicable law.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. No website, email system, or internet transmission is completely secure. You should use caution when deciding what information to send through the Website, forms, email, or other electronic communications, and you should avoid submitting sensitive health or other sensitive information through the Website.
8. Your Choices
Communications
You may unsubscribe from promotional or newsletter communications by using the unsubscribe link in the message or by contacting us at web@njfpl.org. We may still send non-promotional communications related to your requests, interactions, or legal notices.
Cookies and analytics
You can usually set your browser to remove or reject cookies. You may also use provider-specific opt-out tools, where available. Rejecting cookies may affect Website functionality. Where required by applicable law, we will honor legally recognized universal opt-out mechanisms, such as Global Privacy Control, for opt-outs that apply to the Website’s processing activities.
Access, correction, deletion, and other privacy requests
Depending on your state of residence, the type of information involved, and whether a particular privacy law applies to NJFPL, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restrictions on certain personal information, or to withdraw consent for certain processing. Even where a specific law does not apply, you may contact us with privacy requests, and we will review them in good faith. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We may deny or limit requests where permitted by law, including where retention is required or permitted for legal, safety, security, recordkeeping, or operational reasons.
To make a privacy request, email web@njfpl.org and describe your request. Please do not include sensitive health information in your request unless necessary for us to locate the relevant record.
9. Consumer Health Data and Sensitive Website Interactions
Some states have enacted laws addressing consumer health data, including data related to reproductive or sexual health services. NJFPL has designed this Website to avoid collecting health information through the Website whenever possible. We do not intend to collect, sell, or use consumer health data for advertising. We do not use geofencing around health care facilities to identify or track visitors seeking health care services, collect consumer health data, or send advertising or messages based on health care facility visits.
If you voluntarily provide information through the Website that may reveal health, reproductive health, sexual health, abortion-related, or similar sensitive information, we will use it only for limited purposes consistent with this policy, such as responding to your communication, providing requested information, maintaining appropriate records, protecting safety or rights, and complying with law. You may request deletion by contacting web@njfpl.org, subject to verification and applicable legal or operational limitations.
10. Children and Minors
The Website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. Minors may view general information on the Website, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are under 13, do not submit personal information through the Website, including through contact forms, comments, or other free-text fields.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. Parents or legal guardians who believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us may contact web@njfpl.org.
11. Notice to Non-U.S. Visitors.
The Website is operated in the United States and is intended for visitors located in the United States. If you access the Website from outside the United States, you understand that information may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.
