Common Sexually Transmitted Infections

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections that pass from one person to another person through oral, vaginal or anal sex. Many STIs do not cause symptoms or symptoms may not appear for a long time. It is possible to have an STI even if you or your partner do not have symptoms which is why it is important to get tested.

STIs are very common, especially among younger people. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), about 20 million new cases of STIs are reported each year in the United States. Approximately 10 million of these infections affect people between ages 15 and 24.

Below you will find the most common sexually transmitted infections, possible symptoms as well as treatment options.
